Testimonials

I was introduced to Anthony in mid 2024, and we are both still collaborating on the Gawcombe Estate, in Gloucestershire. As the team landscape architect, I work very closely with Rural Maps. Their comprehensive field work and deep understanding of agricultural practices and rural land use, has been invaluable in informing the strategy for the evolving Estate Masterplan. I have found Anthony personally extremely helpful and obliging. He intuitively understands that each estate and land holding has its own idiosyncrasies, that only reveal themselves under meticulous and close scrutiny. His boundless curiosity generates a granular level of fieldwork, which in turn provides an essential insight into the historic land management, that helps us to safely plan for the future.

We are absolutely thrilled with the maps, both the delightful decorative maps which our customers really enjoy on their visits to the vineyard, and the range of functional maps we had produced for management purposes which we have come to rely on in our operation of the estate.

From start to finish working with Rural Maps was a pleasure. Attention to detail during the design and commissioning phase was excellent and the most accurate map of the farm has been produced. The wall map, wipe clean board and pocket maps are used regularly for a whole range of management purposes and I would have no hesitation is recommending Rural Maps to other landowners.

Frith Estate, Dorset

I commissioned a map of our farm in Northumberland for my husband’s 60th birthday. Over the years field names had been changed through misspelling and mispronunciation and I thought it would be useful to have a definitive version on the wall for reference. Despite being at the other end of the country the initial planning and decision making was quite straightforward. My husband loved his gift which included a number of fold up A3 water and tearproof maps that have proven to be extremely useful.

Rural Maps did a fantastic job of capturing all the historic and modern changes to the Estate. Uncovering old drains, tracks, rides, culverts to septics, manholes, electricity and water pipes etc. Also mapping lakes, old monuments, forestry. We were then sent very precise plans in hard copy and digital which captured everything we had asked for. A great service.

I recently had the pleasure to commission Anthony Pelly at Rural Maps for a project concerning the drawing of a map for a property in New England, USA.

Planning: From the very beginning Anthony was extremely helpful and communicative, calling me directly after my initial request, to discuss the project and background of the property. He put in a lot of effort to describe his work and to explain the entire process of producing a map. I cannot stress enough how nice it was to work with him from the very beginning.

Execution: During the initial phase of the execution of the map Anthony went above and beyond to get to know the property as much as he could. He read local newspaper articles, researched satellite images, historic maps and learned everything he could about the local industry of maple sugaring on our property. Anthony was extremely engaged and he put a very personal touch on this project. He sent printed drafts, accompanied by PDFs for circulation among involved parties. Taking on board our comments and adapting everything to our suggestions. Anthony worked incredibly hard to make this project as perfect as he could.

Finish: As the project drew to an end he made sure that the print would come out perfectly, checking everything meticulously before sending the final print to me. The final product is an incredible piece of art, giving an extremely detailed overview of the entire property. I could not think of any better addition to the wall of our family home, and would do business again with Anthony without thinking about it twice. Overall, I cannot praise Anthony and the team at Rural Maps enough and I highly recommend anyone thinking about having a bespoke map produced to work with him. They are masters of the art and true experts in this kind of work, going above and beyond to ensure everything is perfect.
